Echobit Insight: Institutional Bitcoin Holdings Surge as Strategy Eyes S&P 500 Entry
2025.06.25
Bitcoin is once again under the global spotlight in financial markets. Japanese public company Metaplanet recently raised $517 million through a new stock issuance to increase its Bitcoin holdings. Meanwhile, MicroStrategy (referred to as Strategy) added another 245 BTC last week, further reinforcing its long-term holding strategy. Founder Michael Saylor previously predicted that Bitcoin could reach $21 million within the next 21 years — an aggressive forecast, but one that has drawn widespread attention. Bitcoin reserves and price trends are once again at the center of the industry narrative.
Strategy Eyes S&P 500, Poised to Become Another Crypto Milestone
As Bitcoin’s price continues to climb, Strategy is edging closer to qualifying for the S&P 500 Index. According to financial analyst Jeff Walton, if BTC holds above $95,240 by June 30, Strategy stands a 91% chance of posting a profitable quarter — meeting the S&P 500’s inclusion criteria. If successful, Strategy would become the second crypto-related company to join the index, following Coinbase.
Currently, Strategy holds a staggering 592,345 BTC, making it one of the largest public Bitcoin holders globally. As the S&P 500 reflects the performance of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the U.S., the requirements for entry — including four consecutive quarters of positive earnings — are highly representative of corporate strength.
Corporate BTC Holdings Double in a Month
According to BitcoinTreasuries.NET, the number of companies holding Bitcoin has jumped from 124 to 244 since early June — nearly doubling. The launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs and positive signals from U.S. regulators are accelerating institutional adoption. Bitcoin is evolving from a “high-volatility investment tool” into a “strategic reserve asset.” The approach of “buying steadily during dips and holding long-term” is increasingly seen by corporations as an effective hedge against future macroeconomic uncertainty.
Echobit: Smarter Bitcoin Stacking, More Proactive Strategies
Retail investors can ride this wave of institutional participation too. Trading platform Echobit offers a user-friendly interface, one-click Bitcoin purchasing, and diverse strategy tools that help users execute a “buy low, hold strong” approach.
