Ethereum ETF Inflows Surpass Bitcoin as $5B Options Expiry Looms
2025.08.28
This week, Ethereum once again captured global market attention. On Tuesday, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $455 million in net inflows, far outpacing Bitcoin ETFs at $88 million. This marks the second time this week that Ethereum ETFs have outperformed Bitcoin ETFs. Over the past five trading days, ETH funds have consistently led inflows. Since launch, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs have accumulated $13.6 billion in net inflows, with most of the growth concentrated in recent months—highlighting accelerating institutional demand for ETH.
According to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, investment advisors remain the largest holders of Ethereum ETFs, with a total exposure of $1.3 billion. SEC filings further show that Goldman Sachs holds the single largest position, with $712 million in exposure. Institutional participation continues to strengthen Ethereum’s investment base.
Another key focus this week is the upcoming $5 billion Ethereum options expiry on Friday. With ETH prices up 22% over the past 30 days, bullish strategies are in a stronger position. Analysts suggest this expiry could provide the momentum needed for ETH to challenge the $5,000 mark. Some forecasts go further, noting that if Ethereum follows its historical post-summer rally pattern, it could approach $7,000 by year-end.
Currently valued at $557 billion, Ethereum ranks among the world’s top 30 tradable assets—surpassing global giants such as Mastercard (MA) and ExxonMobil (XOM), underscoring its growing relevance in the global asset landscape.
